The performance was so horrible that some of the audience left, according to a review.
Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers played trumpet on "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
After "Territorial Pissings," Kurt dove into the audience, smashed his guitar, and gave pieces of it to the crowd.
About 40 minutes into the set, Krist hurled his bass at Kurt and walked offstage. The band was under contract to play for 90 minutes, so the crew had to retrieve Krist to finish the set. When Krist returned, he picked up his tossed bass from the stage and didn't bother to retune it or swap it out.
After Krist returned to the stage, guitar tech Earnie Bailey rolled a canteloupe onstage like a bowling ball. Kurt picked it up and started smashing it on his guitar strings, playing his guitar with the canteloupe.
For a large part of the show, the band switched instruments, with Kurt on drums, Krist on guitar, and Dave on bass.
For a cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You," Kurt changed the lyrics to "We will fuck you."

The venue is a section of a parade area called Sambódromo da Marquês de Sapucaí.
The show included many short jams.
Krist opened the show by singing a few lines from Electric Light Orchestra's "Telephone Line."
Kurt purposely altered various lyrics during the show, most notably during "Polly," which threw off Dave's backup harmonies.
Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers played trumpet on "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
When the band started "On A Plain," Kurt mistakenly started playing "Been A Son," but quickly switched to the correct song.
During "Scentless Apprentice," Kurt put on a performance for one of the professional video cameras, including exposing and touching his genitals.

The band played this show as an unannounced "special guest."
This was the band's last show as a trio.
The band jammed on "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats.
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" was not played.
The show was approximately 60-85 minutes long, according to various accounts.
Since the show was running late, Krist had to use Kurt Danielson from Tad's bass rig. There was no time to move the bass rig to Krist's side of the stage, so Kurt's rig was set up on Krist's usual side. When Kurt was handed his guitar and told that they would have to play on opposite sides of the stage, he expressed concern and said they had never played that way before (although they did on at least 08/24/91). With the exception of Saturday Night Live, Kurt and Krist maintained their new sides of the stage at all future shows.

Many people in attendance have said the show was horrible. The band was booed by the audience.
Kurt snapped at the audience for throwing wet T-shirts on stage, shorting out the effects pedals.
After the show was over and the house lights came on, Kurt ran back onstage, dove into the audience, crowd surfed for a bit, made his way back to the stage, then exited into the stage right curtains, according to attendees.

After "Pennyroyal Tea," the show was stopped, and Krist and Kurt jammed on "Down On The Street" by The Stooges while waiting for Chad to come up and play "School." Chad didn't come up, so they skipped "School," ultimately playing it at the end of the show without him.
As it turns out, Chad wasn't even at the show.

The show started with an improvisional intro with the band members in costume for Halloween. Kurt was Barney (with a bottle of Jack Daniel's in his hand, which he apparently chugged through the mask's mesh mouth), Pat was Slash, Dave was a mummy, and Krist was a white-faced "reverse Ted Danson" with "P.C." on his forehead for "Politically Correct." (The actor Ted Danson had recently been ridiculed for making a public appearance in black-face with his girlfriend Whoopi Goldberg.)
After "About A Girl," someone in the audience threw a shoe at Kurt. Kurt took the shoe, urinated in it, and then asked who the shoe belonged to. The shoe's owner replied that it was thrown onstage by someone else. Kurt apologized and said he would have to buy the person a new pair of shoes.

Half Japanese and Everett True joined the band onstage for a noisy jam on "I Wanna Be Your Dog." Jad Fair did the vocals through a distorted megaphone, Gilles-Vincent Rieder and Krist pounded on a floor tom, Dave wandered around with a bass that may or may not have been plugged in, Mark Jickling played Pat's guitar, and Kurt played the drums.
At the end of the show, Pat handed a guitar to Jad Fair's stepson Simon and coaxed him into smashing it.

The Breeders had many shoes thrown at them during their set. When their bass player was hit in the chest with a shoe, they ended their set early. Kurt came onstage between sets and told the audience to "keep your shoes on."
At one point during the show, Krist's persistent jumping caused his cord to be unplugged, which threw the rest of the band off, according to an attendee.
During the show, Kurt spotted a kid wearing a hunting cap in the crowd and asked him for it. The kid gave the hat to Kurt, and he wore it onstage. Later, the band pulled the kid onstage, and he danced around while the band played "Blew." After the song, Kurt helped him smash a guitar.
